Hundreds be a part of candlelight march, demand justice for Ramanthapur tragedy victims

A day after 5 males had been electrocuted throughout a Krishna Janmashtami procession in Ramanthapur, over 200 locals gathered on Tuesday night for a candlelight rally within the space. The march started from the Shivalayam in Old Ramanthapur and concluded at Yadava Sangam in Gokhale Nagar, with the members paying homage to the deceased.

Earlier within the day, smaller protest rallies had been carried out in numerous components of the neighbourhood, with residents demanding justice, accountability from energy authorities and better security measures to forestall such tragedies throughout public gatherings and festivals.

The accident was reported round midnight on Sunday when devotees tried to manually pull a 10-foot chariot after the towing jeep broke down. The metallic body of the chariot brushed in opposition to a dwell overhead electrical wire, electrocuting 5 males and injuring 4 others.

The deceased had been recognized as Rajendra Reddy, 48, Srikanth Reddy, 35, Rudra Vikas, 39, Suresh Yadav, 34 and Krishna alias Diamond Yadav, 21. All had been energetic members of the local people and had taken police permission to conduct the procession.

“This incident was purely due to the negligence of {the electrical} division. We misplaced 5 younger males due to that. If you see now, not one wire is seen. Had this been accomplished earlier than, we might have them with us. We need such diligence from them earlier than any untoward incident occurs, not after we misplaced lives,” mentioned Sarva Babu Yadav, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) consultant.

Officials from the Uppal police remained on the website to take care of bandobast and stop any untoward incidents. The rally concluded peacefully.
