Indian envoy discusses bilateral commerce, vitality safety with U.S. lawmakers amid tariff tensions

Indian Eenvoy Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Friday (August 22, 2025) mentioned “mutually helpful commerce engagement” and “vitality safety” with U.S. lawmakers amid tariff tensions between Washington and New Delhi.

The Indian Ambassador met Senator Bill Hagerty and thanked him for “constant and robust help to the India-U.S. partnership.” “Briefed him on persevering with bilateral discussions for honest, balanced and mutually helpful commerce engagement,” the Indian envoy posted on social media.

He additionally shared “views on India’s vitality safety and the rising commerce between India and the U.S. in hydrocarbons” with Senator Hagerty.

Mr. Kwatra additionally held a “productive dialog” with Congressman Greg Landsman and briefed him on developments in bilateral commerce engagement.

“Briefed him on current developments in bilateral commerce engagement and vitality safety, and the rising hydrocarbon partnership between our international locations,” he posted on social media.

Earlier, Mr. Kwatra met with Rep Josh Gottheimer, Ranking Member of the National Security Agency & Cyber Subcommittee, House Intelligence Committee, and mentioned “two-way commerce in oil and fuel” and “mutually helpful commerce ties.” “Shared updates on the newest developments in bilateral vitality cooperation, together with two-way commerce in oil and fuel and balanced, honest and mutually helpful commerce ties,” Mr. Kwatra posted on social media on Thursday.

Mr. Kwatra has met with 16 U.S. lawmakers since August 9, as revealed by his social media posts.
