“The victims have been natives of Puchdikapadu village, Jeelugumilli mandal, in Eluru district. The incident occurred when Chellamma and Varalakshmi have been coming back from Aswaraopet mandal in Telangana after attending to their work on Sunday morning,” stated Polavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) M. Venkateswara Rao.
“Owning to heavy rains within the upstream mandals in Telangana State, about 25 small and main rivulets and streams have been overflowing on the ‘Saptas’ (low degree bridges). Three habitations have been cut-off from the primary stream,” stated Eluru district Superintendent of Police Okay. Pratap Shiva Kishore.
“On figuring out about lacking of the ladies in Kavadi Konda Vaagu, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched search operations through the use of drones. Police are trying to find Varalakshmi,” the SP stated.
In T. Narsapuram mandal, many rivulets have been overflowing owing to incessant rainfall, Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore stated.
“Pickets have been organized at many locations, and villagers are requested to cooperate with the police and keep away from crossing the overflowing streams and rivulets,” Mr. Venkateswara Rao, who visited the pickets,” instructed The Hindu on Sunday (September 14, 2025.)
“Jeelugumilli Circle Inspector Venkateswara Rao, cops of Velerupadu, T. Narsapuram, Jeelugumilli have been posted on the pickets,” the DSP stated.
