The Income Tax division on Thursday (September 25, 2025) prolonged the deadline for submission of audit studies for the 2024-25 fiscal yr by one month until October 31.

In an announcement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) mentioned the earnings tax return submitting portal is working easily and greater than 7.57 crore ITRs have been filed until September 23, 2025.

Till September 24, about 4.02 lakh tax audit studies had been uploaded with over 60,000 of them uploaded on September 24 alone.

The CBDT mentioned it has acquired representations from numerous skilled associations, together with chartered accountant our bodies, highlighting sure difficulties being confronted by taxpayers and practitioners in well timed completion of the audit report.

“However, keeping in view the representation of the tax practitioners and their submissions before the Hon’ble Courts, the ‘specified date’ for furnishing of the report of audit under any provision of the Income-Tax Act, 1961, for the previous year 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26)… is extended from 30th September, 2025 to 31st October, 2025,” the CBDT mentioned.

It is clarified that the Income-Tax e-filing portal has been working easily and with none technical glitches and the tax audit studies are being uploaded efficiently. The system is secure and absolutely useful, enabling submission of assorted statutory varieties and studies, it added.

Faced with glitches on the portal, the earnings tax division had on September 15 prolonged the deadline for submitting ITR by people and people who should not have to get their accounts audited by at some point. Over 7.54 crore ITRs had been filed until September 16. Of these, 1.28 crore taxpayers paid self-assessment tax until September 16.
