Contractor booked in constructing collapse incident at Ennore SEZ thermal energy mission

A case has been registered underneath related sections in opposition to the contractor after an under-construction constructing on the Ennore Thermal Power Station collapsed, by which 9 migrant staff died on September 30, police mentioned on Wednesday (October 1, 2025).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister M.Ok. Stalin expressed grief over the incident. The 9 victims hail from Assam.

“Cases have been booked against the contractor. Investigations are going on,” a senior police officer of the Kattur Police Station advised PTI.

Mr. Stalin had instructed Electricity Minister S.S. Sivasankar and TANGEDCO Chairman Ok. Radhakrishnan to instantly oversee the reduction work on the accident website.

Speaking to PTI, Mr. Radhakrishnan mentioned the migrant staff had been standing underneath the development constructing when the incident befell.

“Ten persons fell down from that height (45 mts) as the base on which they were standing collapsed. BHEL has taken up the work to design, build and construction. While nine people were brought dead to the hospital (Government Royapettah Stanley Hospital) one person is under treatment,” he mentioned.

PM Modi has introduced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the subsequent of kin of every deceased, whereas Mr. Stalin introduced a compensation of ₹10 lakh to the bereaved members of the family.

AIADMK common secretary Edappadi Ok. Palaniswami, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Ok. Selvaperunthagai had been amongst those that expressed grief over the incident.
