Seven individuals, together with three ladies employees and the proprietor, had been burnt alive in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit at V. Savaram village beneath Rayavaram police limits in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Wednesday. A brief circuit within the electrical wiring system on the unit reportedly led to the accident.

The explosion was reported at Sri Ganapathi Fire Works, a firecracker manufacturing-cum-sales unit, at round 12.30 p.m. The crackers saved on the unit caught fireplace and exploded. The wall of the unit collapsed beneath the influence of the explosion.

Home Minister V. Anitha, who inspected the unit, confirmed the loss of life of seven individuals who had been working on the unit on the time of explosion.

“As per the preliminary stories, a brief circuit within the wiring system is believed to be the reason for the explosion,” she mentioned.

“Seven individuals, together with the proprietor of the unit, died within the incident. Three employees survived with 90% of burn accidents. Their well being situation is essential. Ten employees had been contained in the unit when the explosion occurred,” Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar instructed The Hindu.

The deceased have been recognized as Velugubantla Suryanarayana (65), Proprietor of the unit; Paka Aruna (35), Chittori Syamala (35), Penkey Sesharatnam (40) and Kudupudi Jyothi (38), all employees. The id of two extra deceased was but to be ascertained when the final repoprt got here in.

The id of Velugubandla Satayanarayana was confirmed from the gold ring he was carrying.

All the deceased and the survivors belong to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Meena mentioned that the main points of two extra deceased had not been ascertained but, because the survivors weren’t in a state to remember the main points of the incident because of trauma.

The Home Minister mentioned that the incident could be probed intimately, including that the licence of the firecracker unit is because of expire in March 2026.

The police have registered a case and the investigation is on.

Governor expresses shock

Meanwhile, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer expressed grief over the incident. He provided condolences to the bereaved households and requested the district administration to offer the required therapy to the injured.

Steps should be taken to make sure strict adherence to fireplace security norms on the cracker manufacturing models to stop the recurrence of such incidents.
