Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) is exploring scope for initiating farmers in Coimbatore district into elevating pulpwood bushes.

TNPL officers drove house the potential for sustained earnings era by elevating pulpwood bushes at an orientation programme for potential cultivators organised by a Farmer Producer Company at Periyanaickenpalayam not too long ago.

According to G. Ranganathan, Director of the Business Division of Palamalai Farmers Producer Company Limited, the agro-climatic situation in Coimbatore was appropriate for elevating casuarina and ‘malai vembu’ (Melia Dubia) to ship sustained earnings for cultivators.

The TNPL has, to date, been sourcing pulpwood beneath contract settlement with farmers in Ariyalur, Villupuram, Pudukottai, Karur and Tiruchi districts. In the final twenty years, farmers in Tiruppur district had been additionally roped in by the TNPL for contract cultivation of pulpwood bushes.
