SIR: More than 70 lakh varieties distributed on first day of enumeration course of in West Bengal

“As a part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, greater than 70 lakh enumeration varieties have been distributed by greater than 80,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) on the primary day of their house-to-house visits throughout the State,” an official stated on Wednesday (November 5, 2025).

The month-long train started within the State on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) and can proceed until December 4. “On Tuesday, more than 70 lakh enumeration forms were distributed by the BLOs,” an official of the Election Commission informed PTI.

“BLOs continued visiting the residences of voters throughout West Bengal on Wednesday (November 5, 2025) to distribute the enumeration varieties,” he stated.

“Adequate security personnel are accompanying the BLOs for their safety. Yesterday (November 4, 2025), there were no untoward incidents reported from anywhere in the State. If any resistance is reported against a BLO, we immediately instruct the district electoral officers (DEOs) to investigate,” the official stated.

As a part of the method, 80,681 BLOs have been deployed throughout the 294 Assembly constituencies within the State. “Around 7.66 crore enumeration varieties have thus far been ready, and every voter will obtain two copies,” the EC official stated.

According to the rules for the SIR course of, BLO would countersign each varieties. The officer would retain one filled-up type for the Election Commission of India and return the second with a stamped acknowledgement, which can be required for future reference.

The SIR is being carried out in West Bengal after a spot of 23 years. The final such revision of voters’ lists was held within the State in 2002.
