The Land Pooling Scheme (LPS 2.0), approved by Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday, for acquiring 16,666 acres in seven villages, along with 3,828 acres of adjoining government land, will be used for major infrastructure development projects, including an International Sports City, a new railway station, a railway track, and the Inner Ring Road (IRR) in Amaravati.

With this decision, the capital city’s footprint will expand for the first time into Palnadu district. Villages in Amaravati mandal of Palnadu—Vykuntapuram, Pedamadduru, Endroyi and Karlapudi—will together contribute 7,562 acres, while Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram and Pedaparimi of Thullur mandal in Guntur district will provide 9,104.57 acres under LPS 2.0.

On the other hand, the government is planning to take more land for projects such as greenfield airport, smart industries and others.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana assured that farmers participating in the latest round of land pooling will receive compensation on par with the first phase.

Those contributing Jareebu (wet) lands will be allotted 1,000 sq. yd residential and 450 square yard commercial plots, while dry land contributors will get 1,000 square yard residential and 250 square yard commercial plots. The lease payments will remain unchanged.

The Minister said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had approved an upgraded plan for a 2,500-acre International Sports City, bigger than the earlier 70-acre  proposal, to enable hosting of global sporting events.

Mr. Narayana said the expanded infrastructure push is expected to accelerate economic growth and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s financial outlook.
