Watch the best of European films in Hyderabad

Hyderabad will host the 30th European Union Film Festival (EUFF), from December 5 to 14. The EUFF comes to the city following its earlier editions this year in New Delhi and Bengaluru. The Hyderabad edition will open with the Dutch film Memory Lane, directed by Jelle de Jonge. 

During the 10-day festival, films will be screened in three venues — Prasad Lab Preview Theatre in Banjara Hills, Sri Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, and Alliance Francaise in Banjara Hills. 

The Hyderabad chapter of EUFF 2025 will feature films from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain and Ukraine.

The line-up of films includes Julie Keeps Quiet (Belgium), which narrates the story of a young athlete navigating silence and power in the face of scandal, Happy (Austria) that follows an undocumented immigrant’s struggle to build a better life for his daughter. 

Holy Cow (France) is a resilient coming-of-age tale, and Dying (Germany) deals with mortality and fractured relationships with dark humour and emotional depth.

Matters of the Heart (Denmark) examines a family coping with alcoholism, while Romania’s Three Kilometres to the End of the World confronts prejudice and identity in a small village. Italy’s Familia explores the complexities and tensions that define modern family life.

In a statement, Hervé Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India, said, “We are excited to bring the festival back to Hyderabad after the warm reception we received last year. This city does not just love cinema; it has a remarkable appetite for every form of storytelling.” He added a word of praise to prominent filmmakers such as SS Rajamouli and Sandeep Reddy Vanga for their contribution to contemporary cinema.

The EUFF is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to India, in collaboration with the Embassies of EU Member States, and the Hyderabad Film Club.
