TGMC cracks down on unqualified practitioners and illegal clinics in Shadnagar

A team of officials from the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) carried out surprise inspections in the Shadnagar area on the evening of November 28 and identified multiple unqualified practitioners and clinics operating without permission.

During the inspection, the team identified a doctor practising with misleading qualifications. Dr Anand Kumar Chettipally of ABV Hospital, who holds an MBBS degree, was found running a multi-speciality facility while claiming to be a specialist with an “MD from London”, a qualification not recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). “He was conducting 2D echo tests with the help of an echo technician and issuing reports while presenting himself as a cardiologist. A notice has been issued to him, and the issue will be forwarded to the Ethical Committee. Action would also be recommended under the NMC and TMPR Act against the technician involved,” a release said.

TGMC members also found several centres offering allopathic treatment without any medical qualification. Keerthi Polyclinic, run by G. Balakrishna and Raju, was found to be administering allopathic treatment despite the absence of valid medical credentials. Balaji Polyclinic, operated by Venkatesh, was similarly providing medical services without the required permissions. Another centre, Ganesh First Aid Centre run by Bhaskara Chari, was offering allopathic procedures under the guise of a first-aid facility.

TGMC officials said the operators of these establishments were endangering public health by administering dangerous steroids, pain killers and antibiotic injections without proper knowledge or authorisation. The council said strict action would continue against illegal medical activity, including the use of fake degrees, unrecognised qualifications and unauthorised scanning or echo services.
