Happy Patel: Aamir Khan Productions announce Vir Das directorial debut featuring Imran Khan

Actor-comedian Vir Das is set to make his directorial debut with an upcoming spy-comedy film, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, backed by Aamir Khan Productions.

The banner made the announcement by sharing a quirky promo video that gives a short glimpse into the film which features Vir along with Mona Singh and Aamir and marking the return of Imran Khan to the big screen after his last appearance in the 2015 romantic-comedy, Katti Batti. Happy Patel is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 16 next year.

The promo video shows Aamir questioning Vir’s choices while making the film. He shouts at Vir for his shoddy portrayal of action and romance in the film and takes a dig for not including an item number in it. “This film will be flop,” Aamir declares. After hearing this, Vir makes a reference of Laal Singh Chadha (2022), which infuriates Aamir further and he goes on punching Vir. Soon, some people enter the room, who have come out after watching Happy Patel. They praise Vir and Aamir is quick to take the credit. The video ends with a glimpse from the film, where Vir, Aamir and Imran seem to be playing quirky roles.

Happy Patel marks the reunion of Vir, Aamir and Imran after the 2011 dark-comedy, Delhi Belly. Apart from his stand-up comedy shows, Vir has starred in films like Namastey London (2007), Love Aaj Kal (2009), Badmaash Company (2010) and Mastizaade (2016). His last appearance as an actor was in the Ananya Panday show, Call Me Bae (2024).
