We had earlier reported that Tamil star Suriya has teamed up with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan of Romancham and Aavesham fame for his 47th film. Today, the film went on floors with a pooja ceremony in Chennai.

The event was attended by the film’s cast and crew, apart from the film’s producer and actor Jyotika, actor Karthi and producers Rajsekar Pandian (2D Entertainment), SR Prakash and SR Prabhu (Dream Warrior Pictures).

Notably, it is now also known that the film will feature actors Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, John Vijay and Anandraj in pivotal roles. Jithu’s frequent collaborator Sushin Shyam is once again composing the music for the film. The film features cinematography by Vineeth Unni Palode, production design by Ashwini Kale, and editing by Ajmal Sabu. Chetan D Souza serves as the stunt choreographer.

Suriya and Jyotika produce the film under their Zhagaram Studios banner. The team commenced the first schedule immediately following the pooja. More updates are expected to be announced in the upcoming schedules.

Meanwhile, Suriya’s line-up also includes Karuppu, and his upcoming movie with director Venky Atluri, tentatively called Suriya 46. The film features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead.

Interestingly, Suriya also has the long-awaited Vaadivaasal in the line-up. Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer of the movie, had told The Hindu in Aprilthat the film will get rolling from June; however, there hasn’t been any update on the film as of now.

Jithu Madhavan turned heads with his blockbuster debut feature, Romancham. The director followed it up with the widely acclaimed blockbuster Aavesham. Starring Fahadh Faasil, the film made over ₹150 crores at the box office. It was announced earlier this year that Jithu has penned Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram’s upcoming film.
