Victory margins tell the story of UDF dominance

The landslide victory of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Kochi Corporation was evident in the margin of victories as well.

While ten UDF candidates notched up margins in excess of 1,000 votes, only two Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidates managed that feat, and only one did so for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

For the UDF, Albert Ambalathinkal from the Pachalam division registered the biggest victory margin (2,071) in the Corporation, followed by Riya Lawrence (1,408) in Kathrikadavu, Antony Painumthara (1,340) in Panampilly Nagar, Fausia Muhammed (1,316) in Kalvathy, Jismi Jerald (1,249) in Vaduthala West, K.X. Francis (1,217), in Perumanoor, Deepak Joy (1,183) in Ayyappankkavu, and Joseph Sumeeth (1,133) in Thoppumpady. Among the UDF’s potential mayoral candidates, Deepthy Mary Varghese (1,110) from the Stadium division led the list, followed by Shiny Mathew (1,082) from Fort Kochi, and V.K. Minimol (856) from Palarivattom.

Girly Robert (11) in Karanakkodam registered the narrowest victory among UDF candidates, followed by Nirmala Rajappan (20) in Gandhi Nagar, V.R. Sudheer (21) in Elamakkara South, Lasitha Peter (24) in Edakochi South, Sibi John (25) in Thattazham, and Shakrutha Sureshbabu (75) in Island South.

For the LDF, Ashwathy Joshy (1,855) in Kadebagham and Sujatha Babu (1,122) in Thazhuppu notched up the biggest victory margins. The next biggest victory was registered by P.J. Dasan (968) in Nazreth. Prakashan (15) in Mundamveli East, Rashida Hussain (21) in Nambyapuram, and Brijith Ashwin (31) in Pottakkuzhi.
