Mukti brings a musical evening to support persons with disabilities

To celebrate its forty years of service and to raise funds for persons with disabilities in medical and rehabilitation aspects, Mukti – M.S. Dadha Foundation brought a musical evening ‘Udaan Utsav’ here on Saturday. It was an all-ladies troupe from Mumbai that performed for the bigger cause.

“Over the decades, this is the first time we are organising a public fundraiser. Through the funds this year, we plan to conduct more job fairs for persons with disabilities and adopt many from the underserved communities,” said Meena Dadha, Founder and Managing Trustee of Mukti. 

Shiv Kumar Goenka, event chair, said that the funds raised this year would help provide livelihood support to over 2000 persons and prosthetic limbs to around 15,000 people with locomotor disabilities, free of charge.

“We should not only stop at contributing funds alone but also spend time with the beneficiaries to understand their livelihoods and struggles. Our duty as a society is to ensure that the entire ecosystem is accessible for persons with disabilities,” said Pradeep Kumar Panja, Chairman of Karnataka bank, while addressing the audience.

Ratnesh, soon to become a doctor, shared that he lost his left limb below the knee and that his life was transformed through the foundation’s support. “They did not just give me a prosthetic limb but wings, a chance to dream bigger. Now, I also support many other NEET aspirants to dream big too,” he said. The foundation also honoured Nina Reddy, Joint Managing director of Hotel Savera.
