The School Education Department will be adding 109 classrooms in 15 schools at an expenditure of ₹21.87 crore. The funding has been sourced from NABARD.
Minister for Information and Publicity M.P. Saminathan initiated works on the construction of new classrooms earlier this week at A. Chettipalayam Panchayat Union Middle School along with District Collector Manish S. Narnaware, Tiruppur Corporation Mayor N. Dinesh Kumar and officials of School Education Department.
The works were being implemented as directed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, in fulfilment of the election promises, Mr. Saminathan said.
A few government schools will be getting new buildings at substantial expenditure after a long wait. They include the Mumoorthy Nagar Govt. School(three classrooms and one laboratory with ₹80.62 lakh expenditure), Karumarapalayam government Middle School (₹1.17 crore for six classrooms and one laboratory, Bharathi Nagar Govt. HSS, (₹1.74 crore, nine classrooms and one laboratory) 15 Velampalayam Panchayat Union Govt. Middle School (21 classrooms and a laboratory with ₹3.83 crore expenditure), Andipalayam Govt. Middle School (₹2.78 crore for 15 classrooms and one laboratory), Poyyampalayam Govt. Middle School (₹2.63 crore for 14 classrooms and a laboratory), and Chettipalayam Govt. Middle School seven class rooms and one laboratory at ₹1.39 crore expenditure).
