The Government Railway Police (GRP), Arakkonam registered a case and launched an investigation to nab the suspects.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Jamal alias Nanna Bhai, 40, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Tiruttani, Tiruvallur district. He is engaged in the business of buying and selling old silk sarees.
Police said a video showing an assault on the businessman at the Tiruttani railway station was circulated on social media. Based on this, an inquiry was conducted with the injured person.
During the inquiry, Jamal said that he consumed liquor along with his friend Fakhrudeen and has gone to the Tiruttani railway station.
At that time, he uttered something under the influence of alcohol to two unidentified persons. One of them got angry and assaulted him, due to which he fell down and sustained minor injuries. He was then treated at a government hospital and was sent home later.
In this connection, a case has been registered at the Arakkonam railway police station under Sections 296(b)(Uttering Obscene words), 118(i)(Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) and 351(iii)(criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have formed two special teams to nab the accused.
