In a statement issued on Wednesday, the federation said that in 2024, the 108 ambulance employees were provided a 16% salary increase. This was reduced to 10% in 2025, it said, demanding immediate restoration of the remaining six per cent. They condemned the practice of paying salaries in installments two or three times a month and demanded the payment of full salaries to all employees on February 1. The federation announced a boycott of biometric attendance from February 1 if its demands are unmet.
On January 30, they will stage a State-wide hunger protest. In February, they will also undertake a march for justice from the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services complex in Chennai to the residence of the Chief Minister.
They also demanded that the 108 ambulance service should be taken over and operated directly by the government, and all workers should be made permanent.
