Rebirth: Eyewitness recounts second when Pune bridge collapsed

Four folks died and 51 had been injured when an outdated slim bridge over the River Indrayani close to Talegaon in Maharashtra’s Pune.

A quiet Sunday afternoon become a nightmare when an outdated footbridge over the Indrayani River in Pune collapsed, sending over 100 folks plunging into the water beneath. Survivors who had been strolling throughout the slim footbridge now keep in mind the terrifying moments.

Swapnil Kollam, an eyewitness, mentioned, “There were more than 150-200 people on the bridge, but at the place where the bridge collapsed, there were more than 50 people. It is God’s grace that my family is safe.”

Another eyewitness, Nikhil Kollam, who stood trembling on the riverbank, described the collapse as a second of divine intervention.

“It is Lord Ram’s grace that we are safe. Today is the rebirth of me and my family,” he mentioned, visibly shaken.

Pune bridge collapse, 4 killed

Four folks died and 51 had been injured when an outdated slim bridge over the River Indrayani close to Talegaon in Maharashtra’s Pune district collapsed on Sunday afternoon.

The slim bridge, which was reportedly carrying over 150 to 200 folks on the time, gave method round 3:15 PM. Panic erupted as a bit of the crowded construction snapped, throwing folks into the fast-flowing river.

Speaking to ANI, District Collector Jitendra Dudi mentioned, “A total of 51 people are injured and admitted to different hospitals, taking treatment, and four individuals have died. Three were identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, and one was male but unidentified”.

Dudi confirmed that search operations had been ongoing.

Congress calls for solutions

The Congress on Sunday condoled the lack of lives within the collapse of a footbridge over the Indrayani River in Pune’s Maval tehsil and demanded accountability, saying it’s crucial that each one people discovered answerable for this tragedy are held accountable beneath the regulation.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge mentioned the bridge collapse is a deeply distressing and avoidable tragedy.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi mentioned the information of many individuals drowning because of the collapse of the bridge on the Indrayani River in Pune is extraordinarily saddening.

Congress’s media and publicity division head, Pawan Khera, mentioned the collapse of the footbridge in Pune’s Maval tehsil is a heartbreaking tragedy.
