Woman raped after husband sells her to good friend to clear debt in MP’s Dhar

Police have launched an investigation and registered a zero FIR, as each males concerned are presently absconding.

A person allegedly “sold” his spouse to repay a debt of 50,000 to a good friend, who later raped her in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, police mentioned on Tuesday.

Based on a criticism, a case was registered on the girls’s police station in Indore. However, contemplating the seriousness of the offence, the police registered it as a ‘zero’ FIR and despatched it to the Dhar police for motion.

According to the police, the lady’s husband is a resident of the Kanwan police station space, round 35 km from Dhar district headquarters, whereas his spouse lived in Indore.

A ‘zero’ FIR is registered by any police station, no matter jurisdiction, when it receives a criticism concerning a cognisable offence.

Kanwan police station in-charge Abhay Neema mentioned the lady alleged that her husband was a gambler, and his debt stored rising due to the behavior.

He mentioned the lady, in her criticism, alleged that her debt-ridden husband pressured her to have bodily relations with one in every of his associates who had loaned him cash.

A search has been launched for each males who’re absconding, he mentioned.

According to the criticism, when the husband was unable to repay the debt, he made a take care of a good friend and compelled his spouse to have a bodily relationship with him to repay his debt.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Dhar, Geetesh Kumar Garg, mentioned, “The matter is being investigated. The victim’s statement will be recorded in Indore.”
