The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin on July 25, 2025, forecasted heavy to extraordinarily heavy rainfall until July 31 in a number of areas in West Bengal owing to a melancholy over coastal West Bengal and adjoining areas of Northwest Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh.

For areas within the southern districts of West Bengal, the IMD stated that waterlogging can be doubtless in low-lying areas and underpass roads. Meanwhile, the bulletin stated that momentary waterlogging in low-lying areas and lightning strikes in open fields are doubtless for the northern districts of West Bengal.

The IMD additionally issued a warning to the fisherfolk of West Bengal, advising them to not enterprise alongside and off North and central Bay of Bengal, and West Bengal and Odisha coasts from July 25 to July 29.
