S.B.Okay. Singh will get extra cost as Delhi Police Commissioner

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (July 31, 2025) appointed Director General of Home Guards, S.BK. Singh, because the performing Commissioner of Delhi Police.

According to an order issued on Thursday, Mr. Singh will assume extra cost of the submit from August 1, following the tip of tenure of the incumbent police commissioner, Sanjay Arora, who retires at the moment.

Mr. Singh is a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the AGMUT cadre. He has been serving because the Director General of Home Guards and can now oversee the Delhi Police till a proper appointment is made or additional orders are issued.

Career

In a profession spanning over 36 years, Mr. Singh has held a number of pivotal positions within the Delhi Police and likewise served as the pinnacle of police forces in two northeastern states — Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, Singh joined the Indian Police Service after commencement in 1986.

He later accomplished an MBA with a specialisation in Human Resource Management. His policing profession displays a uncommon mix of area expertise, administrative innovation, and technological foresight.

In Delhi Police, Singh has served in key positions comparable to Additional DCP of South, and DCP in each Northeast and Central districts.

He later headed the Economic Offences Wing, and served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Special Commissioner of Police in numerous domains together with Intelligence, Security, Law and Order and Technology and Project Implementation.
