As a end result, water entered the basement space of a few blocks within the Secretariat Complex that includes 5 blocks.
The development of the enduring buildings is on the basement stage now. With the State authorities awarding tenders, the contractors have commenced works comparable to floor clearing.
Though many areas inundated following heavy rain, works have been progressing on the remaining iconic buildings on Thursday.
The authorities plans to assemble 5 towers for the Secretariat — one for the General Administration Department (GAD) that’s the tallest amongst all, and 4 for different departments and Commissionerates. Construction of the State Legislative Assembly can also be progressing on the similar location.
Out of those six main constructions, water entered solely two blocks.
“We are persevering with the work as there’s a mandate to finish it in two-and a half years,” stated an worker of the NCC firm, on the 53-storeyed Secretariat constructing.
“At current, we’re clearing the bottom and verifying the power of the prevailing basement construction. Construction of the parking place can also be occurring on the towers,” he added. Some water entered the basement space, and it was being pumped out, he stated.
