BMW Motorrad India to hike prices amid rupee depreciation and rising input costs

The German motorcycle manufacturer will revise prices across its India lineup as sustained foreign exchange pressure drives up input costs.

BMW Motorrad India has officially announced that prices will be hiked by up to 6 per cent across its entire portfolio on our shores, with the new prices to come into effect on January 1, 2026. The company cited sustained cost pressures linked to the Indian currency’s depreciation against the US dollar and rising input costs of raw materials.

BMW Motorrad India has announced a price hike of up to 6 per cent across its motorcycle range

The Indian rupee continued to decline into December 2025, reaching an all-time low of 91.01 on Tuesday, December 16. It is currently the worst-performing currency in Asia in 2025, having declined by as much as 6 per cent against the US dollar. The decline is attributed to a range of factors, including US hitting Indian goods with 50% tariffs and an outflow of foreign funds.

The range currently starts with the made-in-India BMW G 310 RR, an entry-level sports bike priced from 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). A 6 per cent increase would translate to an approximate hike of 16,860, taking the ex-showroom price to around 2.98 lakh.

On the other end of the spectrum, the M 1000 XR is currently priced at 48.63 lakh (ex-showroom) as the most expensive motorcycle from the company. Its price would go up by roughly 2.92 lakh if the full 6 per cent hike is applied. This would push its ex-showroom price to around 51.55 lakh. However, the exact price increase will vary by model and variant.

Commenting on the decision, BMW Group India President and CEO Hardeep Singh Brar stated the company was under prolonged pressure from foreign exchange movements due to the Indian rupee’s sharp decline against the US dollar and the euro, resulting in higher input costs of raw materials and logistics. “The planned price hike measure will ensure necessary profitability and continued value generation for the company as well as our dealer partners,” he said.

BMW Motorrad India’s portfolio spans a broad range of models, starting with the G 310 RR and the CE 02 e-scooter, both of which are made on our shores. The lineup expands to CBU offerings spanning multiple segments, such as adventure bikes, tourers, cruisers, and more.

The company is currently gearing up to launch the new BMW F 450 GS adventure motorcycle. Powered by a new 420cc parallel-twin engine, it has entered production at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur plant. At launch, it will become the entry point to BMW Motorrad’s adventure lineup, replacing the now-discontinued G 310 GS.
