Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric showcased at Motoverse 2025: Everything you should know

Updated on: Nov 23, 2025 09:05 am IST

The Himalayan Electric prototype showcases a classic Himalayan identity but with an electric drivetrain and premium components.

Royal Enfield has brought the spotlight back on its electric adventure project by showcasing the Himalayan Electric at Motoverse 2025. This prototype continues the brand’s push into EV territory after earlier appearances at EICMA 2023 and EICMA 2024. While it is still not a production model, the motorcycle gives us a solid preview of the direction Royal Enfield is taking in the world of electric adventure touring. Here’s everything you should know about the Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric.

The Himalayan Electric uses an electric motor from Stark.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric: Premium components

Royal Enfield seems to be using the Himalayan Electric to experiment with higher-quality parts than what we usually see on its current lineup. The prototype features Brembo braking hardware at both ends. At the rear, the monoshock is sourced from Ohlins, while the front suspension is a set of thick upside-down forks finished in a golden shade. Full adjustability is offered at both ends, although the brand has not revealed the supplier for the front forks.

The frame appears to be built from aluminium instead of the traditional steel cradle. A closer look also suggests that the motorcycle might house two battery packs rather than a single unit. Wheel and tyre choice is equally impressive with SM Pro Platinum spoked rims wrapped in Continental block pattern tyres that suit off-road conditions.

Interestingly, the prototype uses a single petal disc up front. This is in contrast to the twin disc setup planned for Royal Enfield’s upcoming 750 cc ICE motorcycles, which will follow a more conventional design.

The Himalayan Electric could share its components with the Flying Flea.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric: Design

The overall shape continues to reflect the classic Himalayan identity. The front beak-style mudguard has been removed. A fresh headlamp design and a windscreen now take the lead visually. The protective cage around the tank shroud remains, a feature seen on both the Himalayan 411 and the Himalayan 450, which helps safeguard components during a fall.

There is a single-piece seat that stretches all the way to the area that would normally house a fuel tank on an ICE-powered motorcycle. The rear section has a rally-inspired design, giving the bike a rugged stance suitable for long trail riding.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric: Not for sale yet

With all the attention this prototype has been receiving, many are eager to know when it will reach showrooms or if they can book one soon. Royal Enfield has clarified that the Himalayan Electric is currently a development platform. It is being used for testing components, evaluating performance, refining capability and supporting research required for a future production-ready electric adventure motorcycle.
