Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal met Peter Kyle, the U.Okay.’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, on Wednesday in Mumbai with a view to maneuver ahead with the operationalisation of the India-U.Okay. Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry mentioned in an announcement on Wednesday (October 3, 2025).

Mr. Kyle is in India as part of the delegation accompanying U.Okay. Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his two-day official go to to India, the primary since he assumed workplace. 

“The assembly marked a major step in direction of operationalising the India-UK CETA, with each Ministers agreeing to reposition the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) to supervise its implementation and supply,” the assertion mentioned.

It added that the Ministers reaffirmed their shared ambition to double bilateral commerce between India and the U.Okay. by 2030.

“Emphasising the transformative scope of CETA, the Ministers mentioned methods to maximise its advantages by way of regulatory cooperation, addressing non-tariff limitations, and selling provide chain integration,” the assertion added.

The Ministers additionally exchanged views on the present international commerce and financial outlook, “acknowledging the significance of constructing resilient and diversified provide chains amid ongoing international uncertainties”, the discharge mentioned.
