A ten-day khadi utsav of the Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board (KSKVIB) began on the Bharat Scouts and Guides grounds at Lalbagh in Mangaluru on Wednesday.

As many as 66 stalls have come up. Of this, 42 had been of khadi sanghas, whereas the remaining 24 had been of village industries models, which have acquired the funding from the KSKVIB and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

Apart from stalls from particularly Kolar, Tumakuru, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Hubballi, Gadag, Bagalkot districts, there have been stalls from Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and some different North Indian States.

Among the articles on sale embrace several types of “Modi” kurtas, khadi shirts, costume materials, saris, mattress spreads and king-sized and single mattress ‘razai’.

Stalls had been additionally handkerchiefs, ‘Khadi’ lungi, ‘Khadi’ Salwar Kameez, Channapatna toys, leather-based sneakers, and eatables together with pickles and papad.

Khadi District Officer R. Yogish stated there was rebate of 35% on Khadi cotton merchandise, whereas 20% rebate was on Khadi silk merchandise.

Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath inaugurated the exhibition within the presence of Khadi Board chairman and MLA Basavaraj Turuvinahal.
