2 arrested for stealing private belongings, cash from passengers on inter-State buses

The Delhi police have lately busted an inter-State gang that drugged passengers travelling in buses and robbed them. Two individuals have been arrested on Saturday for withdrawing over ₹10 lakh from the stolen debit playing cards of the inter-State passengers they focused. Besides, 16 cell phones, together with stolen debit playing cards, have been recovered from them.

The problem got here to gentle when a sufferer, Md. Usman filed a grievance with the police.

As per the grievance, the incident occurred on October 13, when Mr. Usman was travelling on the Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus from Anand Vihar in Delhi to Moradabad. A fellow passenger befriended him and provided water, after which Mr Usman misplaced consciousness, main him to be admitted to a Civic Hospital in Moradabad. He realised, upon regaining consciousness, that his bag, cell phone, and pockets had been stolen. He additionally found {that a} complete of ₹53,000 had been stolen, together with ₹8,000 from his pockets.

The police registered an FIR below Section 303(2) (punishment for theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Patparganj Industrial Area police station on October 18 and started an investigation. The probe led the police to 2 suspects Adil Ali, 25, and Alok Mishra, 23. Both the suspects, who hail from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, have been apprehended from the Shastri Nagar space in Delhi.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they might provide drugged biscuits, water or snacks to passengers throughout long-distance bus journeys, the police stated.

Describing Mr. Adil as a “intelligent and determined” individual, the police acknowledged that he allegedly learnt to organize intoxicant-laced biscuits and snacks from a relative and procured the tablets on-line to combine into the meals objects at his Delhi residence.

Police stated they have been routine offenders who operated at Anand Vihar and Kaushambi bus stands throughout late-night and early-morning hours, concentrating on inter-State passengers.
