Minister for Water Resources Nimmala Rama Naidu on Sunday stated that round ₹840 crore was required to restore 800 of the 1,040 Lift Irrigation Schemes (LIS) in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Rama Naidu was talking after laying the muse stone for a Lift Irrigation Scheme at Maamidada village in Jaggampeta Assembly Constituency on Sunday. Named after Jyothula Papa Rao, the Lift Irrigation Scheme can be constructed at an estimated value of ₹3.49 crore as a part of the Purushottapatnam Lift Irrigation Project Stage-II. It will assist irrigate above 3,500 acres within the Jaggampeta Assembly Constituency.

Addressing the gathering of farmers right here, Mr. Rama Naidu alleged that the earlier authorities ignored the upkeep of the Lift Irrigation Schemes throughout the State.

“The State authorities is gearing as much as restore all of the 840 Lift Irrigation Schemes which can be maintained by the federal government within the subsequent decade,” he stated.

Jaggampeta MLA Jyothula Nehru thanked Mr. Rama Naidu for the sanction of the LIS. Water Resources Department Chief Engineer Okay. Narasimha Murthy, Kakinada District Water Resources Department Superintendent Engineer D. Esubabu and different officers have been current.
