Aaditya Thackeray says he began the Mumbai 24/7 initiative in 2020; slams BJP for taking credit score

The Maharashtra authorities’s order to maintain the State open 24/7 has turn out to be the main target of a slugfest over who first took the initiative and issued the order. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Aaditya Thackeray and its chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the Mahayuti ruling alliance on Friday (October 3, 2025) for taking “credit score.”

Aaditya Thackeray, who’s the legislator from Worli, expressed his “amusement” with the BJP order to maintain Mumbai open 24/7, because the saffron social gathering had criticised him earlier for the same resolution. “The BJP that (not so way back) criticised me on ‘tradition and security’ over my ‘Mumbai 24/7’ coverage, has reissued a GR for a similar,” stated Mr. Aaditya.

“I had requested them then, and I ask them now, what’s in opposition to our tradition in enabling a hard-working metropolis to have the ability to eat and chill until late? The coverage has been in place since January 2020, and BJP leaders had criticised it then,” Mr. Thackeray posted on X, sharing the information clips of his earlier resolution.

Mr. Thackeray criticised the federal government and said that such a Government Resolution (GR) permitting industrial institutions to stay open 24/7 was not required for the reason that coverage has existed since January 2020. On October 1, the State Government issued a GR, allowing industrial institutions to function 24/7, and mandated that every worker needs to be allowed 24 hours of relaxation. Liquor retailers are usually not included on this order and can function as earlier than.

During his annual Dussehra rally on Thursday, Uddhav Thackeray additionally recalled that he sought to allow all night time operation, saying the BJP had opposed it then and was immediately quietly implementing the thought, and taking credit score.
