Accused assaults policemen with penknife close to Srivilliputtur; makes an attempt to slash his throat additionally

An accused, Mariyaraj, 40, inflicted minimize accidents on fingers of two policemen, Vinod Kumar and Alex Pandian, and likewise tried to chop his throat with a penknife, whereas being taken on a motorcycle close to Srivilliputtur, on Friday.

The police mentioned that Mariyaraj of Vadapatti close to Sivakasi had an arrest warrant pending in opposition to him in a lady harassment case in Malli police station.

Two policemen, Vinod Kumar from Srivilliputtur Taluk police station and Alex Pandian, from Krishnankoil police station, had arrested him from his work place close to Sivakasi.

The policemen made him sit within the center on a motorcycle and have been continuing on the Sivakasi-Srivilliputtur freeway, when the person stealthily pulled out a penknife and slashed the fingers of the policemen.

After the bike was stopped, the person tried to chop his throat with the knife.

However, the policemen overpowered him and prevented him. By, then he had slashed his throat.

The policemen then took him to Government hospital in Srivilliputtur on the bike.

The police mentioned that Alex Pandian had sustained minor harm. Vinod Kumar and Mariyaraj have been admitted on the hospital.

Later, Mariyaraj was referred to the Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital.
