Nine councillors from the AIADMK and one from its ally Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), participated within the protest.
Selaiyur G. Shankar, AIADMK councillor from ward 65, stated: “The Corporation allotted funds to curb this mosquito and stray canine menace prior to now Council Meetings however the resolutions aren’t fulfilled. Through this mosquito wrap and toy mannequin protest, we hope the issue is given due consideration.”
Jeganathan V., AIADMK Councillor representing ward 5, who protested on the meet stated there had been no spraying in his ward for the previous six months, and with the onset of the monsoon, breeding of mosquitoes had risen.
“The rubbish assortment has been irregular particularly close to railway stations and so forth, which is worsening the mosquito drawback,” added AIADMK ward 47 councillor C. Sai Ganesh. He added that the stray pig menace can also be at an all-time excessive, posing severe well being dangers, and referred to as for heavy fines on cattle homeowners who let their animals roam the roads.
