All Living Things Environmental Film Festival (ALT EFF) is set to return for its fifth edition from December 4 to 14 this year, with events happening in 33 cities across the country. The line-up was unveiled recently.

The festival will begin with an opening-night curtain raiser in Mumbai on December 4, followed by a series of talks, screenings, and community experiences through the weekend in Bengaluru.

The festival is dedicated entirely to cinema for environmental change, with a spotlight on screening films on wildlife, sustainability, and climate action. It will open on December 4 with the Zoya Akhtar-backed documentary, Turtle Walker, and showcase films like Panha, a Marathi language short-film produced by Dia Mirza and the Kiran Rao-backed critically-acclaimed drama, Humans in The Loop.

Other films that will be screened at the festival include Australian director Damon Gameau’s Future Council, Snow Leopard Sisters, Farming The Revolution, Chasing Time and Black Snow.

Further, actors Richa Chadha and Randeep Hooda have joined ALT EFF as ambassadors to amplify awareness around environmental sustainability. Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar and National Award-winning filmmaker Pan Nalin are part of the jury this year.

Speaking about the festival, Anaka Kaundinya, the festival’s Programming Director, said in a statement, “What makes the 2025 programme truly unique is the blend of international narratives and hyperlocal voices, offering a complete picture of how humans connect with the natural world. We’re looking forward to witnessing how viewers respond to these films, whether they’re watching in cinemas, at community gatherings, or through our new watch-party experiences.”

The festival’s founder and director, Kunal Khanna, added, “With this edition, and with initiatives like our decentralised format and watch parties, we’re pushing that belief further by bringing these stories straight into communities where meaningful change begins.”

ALT EFF has also announced a dedicated environmental filmmaking fund, offering ₹40 lakh to nurture stories that address ecological concerns with creativity and urgency.
