Anti-rabies vaccination camps prolonged throughout Thoothukudi

Thoothukudi Corporation organised an anti-rabies vaccination camp on the new bus stand in Thoothukudi on Saturday.

In gentle of accelerating keep canine menace within the metropolis, the company has initiated the vaccination camp in partnership with the Animal Husbandry division. The camp, which started in August has witnessed vaccination of 350 canine together with stray and domesticated canine.

At the camp held on the new bus stand, a complete of 80 canine have been vaccinated together with 21 stray canine.

Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy informed The Hindu that conducting drives space smart inside the metropolis has elevated the variety of canine being lined, in comparison with holding the camp at a single location. “The camp which begins round 10 a.m. within the morning will proceed till 4 p.m. These drives are deliberate in such a method that covers most components of the town,” he added.

Mr. Jegan additional famous that the company pays ₹17 for every vaccination to the Animal Husbandry Department. Speaking on the shelters for stray canine, he stated, “A shelter in Tharuvaikulam dumping yard is already in operation and one other has been deliberate within the cemetery space, which is but to be taken over by the non-governmental organisation recognized for the aim,”
