Mumbai-based artist and graphic designer Anand Mahajani is exhibiting his works within the metropolis.

A number of the artist’s works in water colors and graphites is on show on the Kalinka Art Gallery in Netaji Nagar.

With over three a long time of expertise as a graphic designer, Mahajani is “attempting to strike a steadiness between the urge for inventive satisfaction and the urgency of deadlines”.

Though Mahajani says he harbours no regrets in regards to the commissioned nature of his line of labor, the place he’s creating artwork “throughout the confines of another person’s beliefs”, his free-spirited forays might effectively replicate an artist’s riposte to the clock-calender dictate. He prefers to work with no set methodology, or particular plan, as such.

The water color frames seize the facades of buildings from an idyllic timeline, whether or not it’s shuttered outlets on a abandoned avenue or a fortress-like formation. Most of the works on show are impressed by scenes from his travels by way of Bundi and Dungarpur in Rajasthan, Varanasi, Nagpur and Goa.

The frames are remarkably devoid of human presence, in actual fact any signal of life. In distinction, the graphites sequence are impressed by the human type. Interestingly, in some drawings buildings exist as standalone photos abutting nothingness, as if the creator stopped the world-building course of mid-way.

“If you discover the images on show incomplete, or they seem to have been stopped mid-way, then that’s solely my lack of ability to proceed additional,” the artist, says, nearly as a disclaimer, in an acquainting observe.

For Mahajani, partaking with water colors and graphites of his personal accord is a crucial means to study and develop.

The occasion is on until July 31 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
