Communication guru Syed Amjed Ahmed dies in Bengaluru

Syed Amjed Ahmed, founding director of the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) and former professor and head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Calicut University, handed away in Bengaluru on Monday (October 13, 2025). He was 76.

A revered trainer and communication researcher, Dr. Ahmed has touched the lives of numerous college students nationwide. His contributions earned him a spot among the many prime 5 communication researchers within the nation, leaving a long-lasting legacy within the tutorial world.

Dr. Ahmed breathed his final at a Bengaluru hospital within the early hours of Monday, following a short sickness sophisticated by lung points. His Janazah prayers shall be held at Masjid-e-Khadria, adopted by interment at Al-Kuddus Burial Ground, Bengaluru, on Monday night.

He started his skilled journey with a stint at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) earlier than becoming a member of Calicut University as a college member. Jemimah Nyaboke, a former pupil in Kenya, remembered Dr. Ahmed as a trainer who communicated along with his coronary heart and touched the lives of scholars globally. “He guided me as a daughter after I was in India. I keep in mind his light fatherly agency voice whereas correcting and guiding me in my thesis,” mentioned Ms. Nyaboke.

Dr. Ahmed is survived by his spouse, Rahana, and son Saad.
