Disaster Management Act invoked in Puducherry to ban show of banners amid climate warning

The Puducherry authorities has invoked the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to ban the show for every type of banners, cutouts, hoardings, and flex boards for the following 15 days in Puducherry district because of the risk of a cyclonic storm. 

In an order, District Collector-cum-Chairman of the Puducherry Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) A. Kulothungan mentioned the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a extreme climate warning indicating the formation of two separate low-pressure areas/depressions over the Bay of Bengal coast, considerably impacting Puducherry and Yanam areas of Puducherry district.
