Erode Postal Division to inaugurate GEN Z post office

The Erode Postal Division is set to mark a new milestone with the transformation of Thoppupalayam Sub Post Office, located on the Kongu Engineering College campus, into Tamil Nadu’s first ‘GEN Z’ Post Office. The upgraded facility will be inaugurated on December 23, 2025, by Akhil R. Nair, Director of Postal Services, Western Region, Coimbatore.

According to an official release, the initiative aims to familiarise postal services among Gen Z users and provide fast, digitally enabled and youth-friendly services to over 10,000 students, faculty members, staff and residents in and around the campus. Officials said the redesigned post office offers a modern ambience tailored to meet the expectations of young users.

The post office will feature smart and modern counter setups, exclusive facilities for students and faculty, quick services for Speed Post and parcels, banking and savings services, PLI/RPLI and Aadhaar services, digital payment options, and spacious waiting and customer service areas. The facility is expected to make postal services easier, faster and more accessible to students, parents and the general public.

K. Gopalan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Erode Division, said the post office would not only cater to academic and hostel communication needs, but also support entrepreneurship, start-ups and e-commerce activities emerging from the campus community. The Erode Postal Division has invited the public to experience the new GEN Z era in postal services, the release added.
