Farmers, led by farmer leaders former MLA A. Lazar and Okay.P. Perumal, stated free home web site pattas must be granted to farmers and agricultural staff. The beneficiaries must be recognized and obligatory steps must be taken on this regard, they stated.
They sought a greater and efficient implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme. Though this was promised, obligatory steps haven’t been taken on this regard, they complained.
The advantages of the federal government schemes must also be prolonged to tenant farmers. There must be correct implementation of the Forest Rights Act. Land titles must be issued within the identify of farmers who had been historically engaged in agriculture in forest lands in locations like Kodaikanal, Sirumalai and Pannaikadu, they stated.
Proper compensation must be offered to the farmers whose lands had been obtained for the Dindigul Ring Road mission. It must be re-evaluated and higher compensation must be paid, they stated. More than 200 farmers participated within the protest and raised slogans in opposition to the Central and the State governments.
