“As the street is vast, now we have determined to extend the width of the proposed flyover. Soil investigation for the ₹310-crore flyover is more likely to start by the top of this month. The Velachery Bypass junction(Phoenix Mall junction) and Five Furlong Road junction have been witnessing heavy visitors,officers mentioned.
As per the visitors survey, Five Furlong Road junction recorded peak hour visitors quantity at 7,459 passenger automobile models/hr, and Guru Nanak College junction at 7,742 pcu/hr. Traffic between Velachery Bypass and Sardar Patel Road is 57%, and between Velachery Bypass and Five Furlong Road is 26%.

Uni-directional down ramps have been proposed on Five Furlong Road and close to Guru Nanak College. Around 191 sq.m. of personal land and 461 sq.m. of presidency land is required for this undertaking, the officers mentioned.
Subha Murali, a resident of Velachery, mentioned: “This flyover just isn’t going to ease visitors congestion.
