IMD points orange alert for Mumbai; rainfall depth to scale back from August 21

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert of heavy rains for Mumbai for August 20 and predicted that the depth of rainfall within the metropolis will go down from Thursday (August 21, 2025).

Rains battered Mumbai, its suburbs and the townships in its metropolitan area on Tuesday (August 19, 2025), flooding streets that resembled rivers at a number of locations, as soon as once more highlighting the monetary capital’s annual problem in coping with the monsoon rains.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert of heavy rains for Mumbai for August 20 and predicted that the depth of rainfall within the metropolis will go down from Thursday (August 21, 2025).

The IMD issued a purple alert for Raigad and the ghat sections of Pune district for Wednesday (August 20, 2025).

According to the IMD, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts may also stay beneath an orange alert for Wednesday (August 20, 2025).
