The change follows a draft notification issued on July 15, 2025, amending the Karnataka Cinemas (Control) Rules, 2014. Subsequently, the federal government had sought suggestions from stakeholders inside 15 days on the workplace of the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department.
The new guidelines shall be known as the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
“In train of the powers conferred by part 19 of the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act No. 23 of 1964), the Government of Karnataka has made the draft guidelines to additional amend the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Rules, 2014, as required by sub-section (1) of the mentioned part: 15.07.2025,” learn the federal government notification issued on Friday.
According to the notification, Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025 will come into power from the date of their closing publication within the Official Gazette.
