The Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) sought to nook Mayor M. Anilkumar and the governing committee over corruption allegations, following the arrest of two Corporation officers by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on bribery costs. The Mayor hit again, alleging that officers had maintained bribery charge playing cards throughout the UDF’s tenure.
Going on the offensive, Mr. Anilkumar requested who had shared the proceeds from bribery beneath the UDF rule. Accusing the Opposition of elevating baseless corruption costs, he warned that he can be compelled to revisit previous affairs. “Corrupt officers is not going to go scot-free, and strict motion shall be taken,” the Mayor stated.
He added that such officers must be delivered to justice by the Vigilance, and a letter can be despatched to the VACB Director requesting an investigation in opposition to the official within the Vyttila zone dealing with corruption allegations. Mr. Anilkumar additionally accused the UDF of double requirements in issues of improvement.
