A tense standoff unfolded on the residence of Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha in Hyderabad late on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) evening when police arrived to arrest her personal Officer on Special Duty (OSD) N. Sumanth — who was just lately sacked by the State authorities over allegations of extortion at gunpoint.

The law enforcement officials tried to enter the premises to arrest him — accused of threatening workers of a personal cement firm for cash. But a confrontation broke out when the minister’s daughter, Konda Sushmitha, allegedly obstructed their entry and questioned their presence.

Sources mentioned the administration had taken a severe view of Sumanth’s alleged misconduct. Appointed as an OSD within the Pollution Control Board (PCB) and later deputed to the workplace of Minister Konda Surekha, he was faraway from service after experiences emerged that he had threatened a number of cement manufacturing facility homeowners within the erstwhile Nalgonda district, demanding cash and warning of punitive motion by way of the PCB if his calls for weren’t met.

Officials mentioned that although allegations in opposition to Sumanth had been circulating for a while, his dismissal was finalised after contemporary complaints from the cement business surfaced earlier this week. The PCB Secretary issued formal orders on Tuesday terminating his providers.

The police tried to arrest a day later, as a part of a wider probe ordered by the federal government into allegations of extortion and abuse of authority by public officers.

Police officers in the meantime remained tight-lipped in regards to the incident, confirming solely that efforts are underway to hint Sumanth, who continues to evade arrest.
