The no-confidence movement towards CPI(M) chairperson Vijaya Sivan was handed after Ms. Raju and impartial councillor Sunil Kumar P. G supported it. The LDF was ruling the 25-member council with the help of 13 councillors, whereas the UDF had a energy of 11 members.
Ms. Raju had shifted her allegiance to the UDF after she was allegedly kidnapped by CPI(M) staff whereas she was on her option to solid her vote in a no-confidence movement moved by the Opposition on January 18, 2025.
My response to the incident: Kala Raju
She stated on Tuesday that she would proceed her help to the UDF and termed the defeat of the Left entrance as “her response to the incidents” that unfolded on January 18. “I used to be attacked and so they insulted me in entrance of the general public,” she alleged.
Ms. Raju stated she “didn’t concern the risk” of being disqualified. “I’ll face it legally,” she stated, whereas mentioning that she didn’t obtain any whip from the CPI(M) to vote towards the no-confidence movement.
Congress response
Mathew Kuzhalnadan, Congress MLA representing the Muvattupuzha Assembly constituency, stated the LDF’s defeat was a befitting reply to “the homicide of democracy” carried out by it on January 18.
Mohammed Shiyas, president of the Ernakulam District Congress Committee, stated the UDF’s victory was a blow to the Left entrance that had “used its energy to curb voices of dissent.”
CPI(M) accuses UDF of horse-trading
Sunny Kuriakose, CPI(M) councillor, accused the UDF of horse-trading to oust the Left entrance from energy. He rejected the allegations of abduction and assault raised towards the celebration by Ms. Raju, whereas reminding her that she was elected as councillor by contesting within the celebration image.
