Owing to heavy rain within the catchment areas in Karnataka, the dam has been receiving substantial inflows in latest days. An official from the Water Resources Department mentioned after the reservoir attained its full degree, the discharge was elevated to twenty,000 cusecs by the dam’s energy home and tunnel energy home.
Staff on the downstream barrages have been instructed to take care of the discharge ranges with none deviation. Irrigation discharge by the east and west financial institution canals continued at 500 cusecs.
At 8 a.m. on Tuesday (October 21), the influx was 30,500 cusecs, whereas the water degree stood at 120 ft, the FRL of the dam. The storage was 93.47 tmc ft. in opposition to the dam’s capability of 93.47 tmc ft.
Of the full discharge, 22,300 cusecs was launched by the ability homes, whereas 7,700 cusecs was discharged by the 16-vent Ellis Saddle surplus sluices.
The official mentioned a flood alert has been issued to 11 districts within the delta area, and residents in low-lying areas have been suggested to maneuver to safer places.
