The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought an inquiry and motion report into an incident of alleged ragging and assault of a Class 9 scholar at Delhi Public School, Nacharam, after receiving a grievance.

The Commission stated the grievance, filed by Karupothula Revanth, raised critical considerations concerning the security and safety of scholars on the varsity premises.

According to the grievance, the coed was bullied by a bunch of classmates throughout a birthday celebration on the varsity campus. The complainant alleged that the boy was publicly humiliated, verbally abused, falsely accused of inappropriate behaviour, and kicked on his personal elements, leaving him injured and bleeding.

It was additional alleged that the varsity administration uncared for to offer instant medical consideration or take acceptable disciplinary motion in opposition to the accused college students.

Taking cognisance of the incident below Section 13(1)(j) of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, the NCPCR directed native authorities to conduct an inquiry and guarantee accountability from the varsity. The Commission has additionally instructed that the establishment adjust to the NCPCR’s Manual on Safety and Security of Children and its 2024 Accountability Guidelines on Preventing Bullying and Cyberbullying in Schools.

Officials have been requested to submit an Action Taken Report to the Commission inside 20 days. In case the varsity doesn’t fall below their jurisdiction, the matter has been directed to be forwarded to the involved district administration, with an intimation to the NCPCR.
