As the NDRF team is to conduct mock drills between January 20 and 31 in the schools, colleges and in select villages of the district to train the students and the public, the Collector chaired a meeting with the NDRF officials to discuss about the training to be imparted to the participants.
The training sessions by the NDRF personnel will be held at Nettoor Government Higher Secondary School (January 20), SMSS Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shencottai (January 21), Barren Brook Higher Secondary School, Surandai (January 22), Gudalur, Paattakurichi, Inaam Kovilpatti, Nerkattumseval and Velayuthapuram (January 23), Sri Parasakthi College, Courtallam (January 24), Varaganur Sahara Fireworks area (January 26), Sri Kalaivani Higher Secondary School, Thiruvenkatam (January 27), Pettai Higher Secondary School, Kadayanallur (January 28) and AMC Government Higher Secondary School, Karivalamvanthanallur.
The participants including the students and the public will be trained by the NDRF personnel on the dos and don’ts during natural disasters to minimise the impact of such devastating situations.
They will also train the doctors and the nurses about the treatments to be given to the victims and this training will be organised at Shencottai and Tenkasi Government Hospitals on January 25. The personnel will inspect the Kaaduvettikulam and Hanumanadhi at Ilaththur which caused major flooding in the past.
“Since the training by the NDRF personnel is a boon to the students and the public on mitigating the impact of natural disasters, the participants should make use this opportunity,” Mr. Kamal Kishore said.
