In the pictures shared by Entertainment Weekly, the crew — led by Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) — comes face-to-face with Laboon, the big sea creature who lives close to the Twin Cape Lighthouse. Watching over him is Crocus, the kindly physician performed by Game of Thrones alum Clive Russell.
Laboon, a fan-favorite from the supply materials, is a “huge pleasant” whale marked by scars from years of crashing towards Reverse Mountain. Actor Taz Skylar, who portrays Sanji, described the character with affection. “I’d say Laboon is playful and mischievous,” he informed EW. “I believe Laboon is aware of what he’s doing — both that, or he’s acquired a fish mind and he simply doesn’t bear in mind.”

Skylar revealed that the manufacturing crew didn’t rely solely on CGI to convey the whale to life. “Yeah, I imply, they constructed a whale!” he mentioned. The crew reworked their largest boat set — “actually the dimensions of a cruise ship” — into Laboon’s inside, full with shipwreck props and abdomen acid results. “It was method larger than a standard whale — the dimensions of a monster, dinosaur whale,” he added.
Season 2, which follows the Straw Hats’ journey via the treacherous Grand Line, introduces new solid members together with Lera Abova as Miss All-Sunday, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, Callum Kerr as Captain Smoker, and Brendan Murray as Brogy.
“The Grand Line is the place all people has their rulebook on how the world is meant to work — after which all of it stops making use of,” Skylar teased. “It’s the purpose of no return.”
One Piece Season 2 premieres on Netflix in 2026. A 3rd season has already been confirmed, with Matt Owens and Joe Tracz returning as co-showrunners.
