Over 650 students receive degrees at 25th convocation of TANUVAS

A total of 699 graduates were awarded degrees by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi at the 25th Convocation of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) in Chennai on Saturday (January 24, 2026). As many as 526 graduates received their degrees in-person.

Addressing the students, Niranjan Kalita, Vice Chancellor, Assam Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Guwahati, said, “Among the immense potential of our country, is the juvenile brain boxes in India. Our dream of a developed nation can be realised better and faster when required knowledge and skill for the 21st century is injected into them.”

Speaking about food security he said that it is projected that India is likely to have a population of 165 crore by 2047. “This means we’ll have to scale up our food production in the face of shrinking resources. Hence, universities such as TANUVAS must engage itself in the development of the matching technology needed for these uses,” he said.

As many as 128 medals and awards were given for academic excellence and performance apart from five medals for faculty. Aruneshwaran E.L from Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal received 23 medals for his performance in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in the 2018-2019 academic year.

A total of 34 graduates were conferred with Ph.Ds while 76 graduates were conferred with Master of Veterinary Science and 19 with Master of technology degrees. Among the undergraduate programmes, 318 students received their Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, 33 with B.Tech in Food technology, 27 with B.tech in Poultry Technology and 17 with B. tech in dairy Technology. Further, two post graduate diplomas were also awarded.

Vice-chancellor (in-charge) TANUVAS R. Narendra Babu and other members of the institution also spoke at the ceremony.
